MP Anurag Thakur sent letters to both Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and Union Health Minister JP Nadda regarding delay in allotment of land for All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in his constituency. The decision for a new AIIMS at Kothipura in Bilaspur district, Hamirpur was taken in 2014 when the NDA came to power and there was no objection from any quarter.
The formalities for providing land for the Institute was to be completed by the State government, but so far it has not been able to do so. As a result, the foundation stone for the new AIIMS has not been laid and construction work has not commenced, he noted.
Since a medical facility like AIIMS is not available, people are led to seek advanced medical treatment outside the State, he claimed. “Please make sure that adequate land free from all encumbrances is made available at Kothipura.”
He urged the Chief Minister to provide the necessary land for the Institute and inform him as to its status. “… if anything is required to be followed with any Central Ministry at my level I shall do so in the wider public interest and follow up vigorously with the concerned Ministry.”
