Union Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Anurag Thakur inaugurated the Sub Junior National and Inter State Table Tennis Championship competition arranged by Himachal Pradesh Table Association in Dharamshala. Speaking at the event he declared that a High Performance and Altitude Training Center will be opened in Dharamshala in which athletes will be trained for all types of sports. He requested Kangra MP Kishan Kapoor and Dharamshala MLA Vishal Naihari to organise land for starting a residential academy of table tennis in Dharamshala.
He added that today there are tremendous opportunities available to advance through sports and participation will help the body remain healthy and strong. “Table tennis has made its mark at the international level. Therefore, there are possibilities of moving forward in this game.” He also encouraged young people to take part in sports and keep away from the evil of drugs. Table tennis kits were distributed to players and he announced that 100 tennis tables would be provided to different centres in HP.
MP Kishan Kapoor said that sports along with education have special importance in student life. Sports lead to multifaceted development of children’s personality. They develop qualities like combativeness, discipline, cooperation and leadership.
MLA Vishal Naihari, former president, Employees Welfare Association Ghanshyam Sharma, Director HPCA Sanjay Sharma, Vishal Sharma, former MLA Sanjay Chaudhary, Deputy Commissioner Kangra Rakesh Kumar Prajapati, Superintendent of Police Vichitam Ranjan, officials of various departments, players and non-players were present at the occasion.
