Mr. Anurag Thakur is an astute Parliamentarian who has served as a Member of Parliament in the – 14th, 15th, 16th and now in the 17th Lok Sabha, wherein he won by a record Margin from Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh.
Mr Anurag Singh Thakur is the Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting and Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India. He is a four time elected Member of the Indian Parliament (Lok Sabha/Lower House) from Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh. Within Parliament, he has served as Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on IT and Member of Public Accounts Committee. During the 16th Lok Sabha, he was appointed as the Chief Whip, Lok Sabha, becoming the youngest to assume the post.
Mr. Anurag Thakur is an astute Parliamentarian who has served as a Member of Parliament in the – 14th, 15th, 16th and now in the 17th Lok Sabha, wherein he won by a record Margin from Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh.
He has an impressive attendance of 85%, with participation in 72 debates and a staggering total number of 612 pertinent questions raised. All of which are the highest among young MP’s in the 15th Lok Sabha. In 16th Lok Sabha, Mr. Anurag Thakur’s attendance in Parliament has increased to 92%, coupled with participation in 46 debates and the total number of questions tally being 287.
He has been the Lead Speaker for the Opposition during the Rail Budget debate in the Lok Sabha and has the privilege of being the only other speaker along with Mr LK Advani on the issue of black money. He has also raised the following issues:

Mr. Anurag Thakur with his committed, humanistic, and supportive leadership aims to lead public, build and support public infrastructures. His constituency Hamirpur has benefited tremendously through his socio-economic development projects across sectors, ranging from railway, roads & national highways connectivity, opening of bank branches, school & college, medical facilities, etc. He has focused on fulfilling local community needs through the MPLADS fund and constructed community centres, mahila mandal bhavans, yuvak mandal bhawan, sarais, shamshan ghats, solar lighting and playgrounds for his constituents
Mr. Anurag Thakur is the first-ever National President of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha to have served for 3 consecutive terms since his appointment in 2010. He is also the first BJYM National President who has worked under the aegis of three BJP Presidents namely Sh. Amit Shah, Sh. Rajnath Singh & Sh. Nitin Gadkari. As a youth leader, he inspired young minds to dream and discover their inner talents through his compassion and commitment to uplift the youth. Mr. Anurag Thakur believes sports builds character which you need in order to be successful. He began his cricketing career at the age of 12, and was selected to the U-19 team that played against England at Delhi and Patiala.
From there, began his love for cricket, and he Captained the Punjab U-19 cricket team and North Zone U-19 team that won the All India Championship.
His passion for cricket is evident in the picturesque International
Level Cricket Stadium at Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. Being a sports enthusiast, he made immense contribution in the development of stadiums, playgrounds and sports facilities in the state of Himachal Pradesh
