Genesis of the Programme

As you would agree that today, travel and tourism are an integral part of learning. The need for the right kind of exposure, understanding regarding education standards and curriculum being followed elsewhere, etc., becomes a source of inspiration and learning for most of the students.

The parliamentary constituency of Hamirpur is amongst the most literate constituencies across India. The constituency comprises the districts of Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Una, and parts of Kangra and Mandi.

However, the state of Himachal Pradesh is a special category state. That means the citizens here lack the exposure to new knowledge base that is otherwise found at the globalised metropolises around the world and in India.

Hence, this initiative to tour the meritorious and outstanding students of the constituency to various academic, corporate centers, cultural and heritage sites, meeting with dignitaries, to help expose them to a new knowledge base.

This initiative is not just helping the children with personality development, improving soft skills but most importantly the purpose of national integration is one of the key highlights.

Key Highlights of the Programme

During Sansad Bharat Darshan 1.0, 80 meritorious & outstanding students (40 girls and 40 boys) from classes 10th & 12th were taken to metro cities like Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad wherein they went to places such as ISRO, NDA, Western Naval Command, a session with renowned author Chetan Bhagat, Actor Suniel Shetty, Cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin, etc. to ensure that a holistic exposure & learning, covering various aspects is provided to them.

The overarching objective of the campaign was to ensure that the meritorious students hailing from economically backward families get adequate opportunities and platforms to witness & experience various academic, research, and corporate centers and expose them to new knowledgebases.

During Sansad Bharat Darshan 2.0, 21 meritorious & outstanding girls between the age group of 16-18 years were taken to New Delhi, Varanasi, Ayodhya, Lucknow, and Gurugram to explore various facets of the different areas and get an in-depth understanding about the rich history & culture. Right from educational institutes, temples, heritage monuments, and tourist sites, the itinerary covered all aspects.

The programme has been designed to ensure that students from different walks of life get exposure and experience of the practical world. The students from batches 2021, 2022 & 2023 were also included so as to ensure that students that passed out of 12th during the COVID era also get an equal & fair chance.
